Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has rolled out a new directive that will significantly speed up visa processing times—from up to six weeks to just five working days. Yes, Ghana Visa Processing Time in 2025 will be reduced to 5 days.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa Champions New Visa Policy

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa made the announcement on Wednesday, May 21, via a Facebook post, noting that the change aligns with President Mahama’s broader goal of making Ghana the premier destination for investment and tourism.

“On January 7th, President Mahama declared that Ghana is open for business. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we are determined to give real, practical meaning to that promise,” Ablakwa wrote.

Fast, But Not Automatic: Approval Still Required

Despite the shortened processing window, the Minister clarified that this does not guarantee automatic visa approval.
“A decision—approval or denial—will be made within five days. This is not automatic visa approval,” he said.

Diplomatic Missions Equipped for Fast-Track Processing

To support this shift, Ghana has deployed additional resources to its diplomatic missions worldwide. The goal is to ensure the smooth and consistent implementation of the five-day timeline.

Boosting Ghana’s Global Appeal

The new visa directive is seen as a strategic move to enhance Ghana’s competitiveness in the global tourism and business sectors.
It reduces long-standing bureaucratic delays that have deterred some international visitors and potential investors.

“Come Enjoy the Black Star Experience”

Reinforcing Ghana’s invitation to the world, Ablakwa concluded:

“Ghana is truly open for business. Come enjoy the Black Star experience.”
