King Promise Clinches Artiste of the Year at TGMA 2025
At the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), King Promise was officially crowned the Artiste of the Year, a coveted title that came after years of consistent hits and musical growth. The “Terminator” and “Paris” hitmaker emerged victorious after stiff competition from top Ghanaian musicians including Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, Joe Mettle, King Paluta, Team Eternity, and Kwaku Smoke.
This victory marked a significant career milestone for King Promise, who also won multiple awards on the night. His album True to Self secured him the Album of the Year, while “Paris” earned him Afropop Song of the Year, along with the title of Best Afrobeats/Afropop Artiste of the Year.
Stonebwoy Extends Congratulations—But Gets No Direct Response
Following the announcement, Stonebwoy, a former winner of the Artiste of the Year award, took to X (formerly Twitter) on May 12 to congratulate King Promise. He warmly welcomed him to what he described as the “league of winners,” a nod to the prestigious recognition that comes with the top TGMA accolade.
However, Stonebwoy’s public gesture did not receive a direct response from King Promise, sparking subtle discussions online about the possible tension—or perhaps indifference—between the two industry giants.

King Promise Responds in Interview—But Plays It Down
When King Promise appeared on Hitz FM on May 13, the topic of Stonebwoy’s congratulatory message came up. In response, King Promise confirmed that he had heard about the message, though he hadn’t seen it himself at the time.
“I have received the congrats, I don’t want to talk about it. I don’t really think it’s like anything to speak about,” King Promise stated during the interview.
He went on to explain that he had not yet been active on the X platform that morning and only responded to messages he saw while browsing the app. “I’ve been told of it, I have actually. This morning, I have not been on X. I don’t think it is a big deal. I have responded on a few—the ones I saw when I went on the app—I responded to everyone,” he added, brushing off any speculation of tension.
Stonebwoy’s Wins at TGMA 2025
Despite not taking home the top honor this year, Stonebwoy didn’t leave the awards ceremony empty-handed. He received the following accolades:
-
Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year
-
Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year with Psalm 23
-
Best Music Video of the Year
His performance and wins reinforced his dominance and consistency within the dancehall and reggae genres in Ghana.
No Bad Blood—Just Different Priorities?
While some fans have speculated about a possible rift between Stonebwoy and King Promise, there appears to be no overt hostility. King Promise’s dismissive tone may simply reflect his desire to stay focused on celebrating his success without being caught up in unnecessary industry drama.
In the competitive world of music awards, moments like these often stir debate, but both artists remain respected figures in the Ghanaian music scene. Whether this silence is a sign of indifference or just timing, fans will be watching closely to see how their relationship evolves post-TGMA.
