The Vice President was reported to have fallen ill after work on Friday, March 28, 2025, and was receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).
A statement from the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, released on Sunday, March 30, 2025, revealed that medical experts had recommended she seek further treatment abroad.
Amid growing concerns from Ghanaians on social media, the latest update on her condition offers reassurance.
During today’s Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, called on the Muslim community to include Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang in their prayers throughout the Ramadan season.
He made this call on March 31, 2025, when speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama at the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration at the Central Mosque in the region.
“As we observe Ramadan, H.E. President Mahama asks for your prayers for God’s strength. Chief Imam, Imams, and head pastors, please remember our Vice President in your prayers as she undergoes medical treatment. Pray for her protection and that any evil plans against her be turned into good,” he said.
Dr. Amoakohene also expressed his appreciation to faith-based organizations, particularly the Muslim community, for their significant contributions to the country’s infrastructure development.

Furthermore, he emphasized the government’s commitment to advancing agriculture and encouraged communities to engage more youth in the sector.
“The government is offering opportunities to anyone interested in agriculture, so please inform us through your community leaders,” he added.
